Welcome to Bretton Motorcycles

Bretton Motorcycles was formed in January 2005, following the closure of Sportster Motorcycles. The reason for the closure being escalating costs and Harley Davidson threatening us with High Court action. We had to remove the name ‘Sportster Motorcycles’, even though Sportster Motorcycles had been trading since 1990. Harley Davidson did not copyright the name Sportster until 1996.

This was a devastating blow which we are still very bitter about. You could not find a greater ambassador for Harley Davidson than us. Yet Big Brother HD still leant heavily on us with its corporate machine. We are totally independent and proud of it.

In 1990, following the closure of Brymbo Steelworks, Russell Campbell and ‘The Late’ Dave Piggott, followed shortly by Mal Ellams, started the shop. Bretton Motorcycles today, consists of: Russell Campbell, his brother Stuart Campbell, and Scott Ellams. Hoping to continue with the same enthusiasm as Sportster Motorcycles. Bretton Motorcycles, as you can see from the website, has quite a few new strings to it’s bow, and should see us reaching our goal:

‘Treating you, the customer, the way we would like to be treated’.
